Rachel Burkum's Current Writing Projects

Rachel is currently writing a new novel about a young man trying to follow his dreams and God's leading. Caught between what he wants to do, and what will please his father, Justin Forester sets a new course for his life. But is it worth the losses that come along with it?
Breaking away from family traditions and fears of failure, Justin embarks on the adventure of running a horse farm, left to him by his deceased uncle. Trouble with the farm hands, rejection from his father, and questions of what is right all come at him at once as he struggles to find himself.

Passing Storm: a novel about a young man and young woman, both discovering God's direction in their lives.
Matt Clarksen is trying to forget his past, while looking for new friends and a place to belong. But the past isn't easily forgotten, and soon it sets into motion a chain of events that will change the course of one young woman's life.
Kate Richards is harboring hate and bitterness. Though receiving love from friends and family, nothing can fill the hole left by the death of her father. When her uncle hires someone to take her father's place at the stable, Kate decides to take matters into her own hands.
Will Matt find a place of peace? Will Kate learn to love again?

Rachel is also editing her short series of novels that follow the lives of several people at a horse ranch in Texas. Mick Peters stars as the main character as he struggles to find God's love, then follow through with the Christian commitments he has made.
Unforgettable plots and characters that speak to the heart weave themselves into these adventurous and inspiring stories.

Jim Adams, a seventeen-year-old rebel finds himself between a rock and a hard place when caught stealing from a nearby horse farm. His parents are dead and the uncle he lives with left town, not saying when he'd be back. Now what?
Offered a job instead of being taken to the police, how can Jim refuse? But he hates horses - all they do is bring up the past. All they do is make him remember. And remembering hurts. But there is a horse that could use his help.
Alex Carlson never saw it coming. Catching Jim in the act of stealing could only be a plan of God. But how on earth can he tell the younger man who he really is?
A New Beginning is sure to capture hearts as readers follow Jim's discovery of who he is, and where God is leading him. Sorrow, laughter and a little bit of young love season the pages of this newly written novel.
